The Naturehike U150 is a rectangular sleeping bag with a hood. Rectangular means roomy: you can move your legs and you are not laced in the way a mummy bag does it. That costs some weight and volume — this is a bag for people who value comfort over the last gram.
Key features
- Comfort rating 11 °C. The limit rating is 7 °C: you can still sleep there, but comfortable is another matter.
- Fill hollow cotton (synthetic).
- Outer fabric 190T polyester.
- Open size 190 × 75 cm, plus a 30 cm hood, packed size 43 × 22 × 22 cm.
- Drawcord hood, so your head stays warm without you crawling under the fabric.
- This version has no collar around the shoulders; that saves weight, but at lower temperatures warm air escapes past your neck more easily.
- Unzips fully into a blanket, and joins a second bag (left and right zip) into a double.
What you use it for
For car camping, huts, festivals and bike trips where you have luggage space. It will not go into a small seat pack; on a rack or in a pannier it will. Also a good spare bag at home, precisely because it opens out as a blanket.
Size and temperature
Open it measures 190 × 75 cm, plus a 30 cm hood, so it is roomy for anyone up to roughly 1.85 m. Naturehike rates it at 11 °C comfort: the temperature at which you sleep comfortably in it, not the point where you are just about coping. Do keep in mind that a sleeping bag does not insulate you from the ground — your mat does. If your mat is not warm enough, a thicker sleeping bag will not save the night; look at your mat's R-value first.
