What you use it for

For anyone trying to close a full bikepacking bag or rucksack: a synthetic sleeping bag or a down jacket is the first thing to put in here, because they are light but bulky. In a seat pack or a handlebar roll that is the difference between fitting and not fitting. For kit that genuinely has to stay dry, take a dry bag; this sack buys space, not waterproofing.

Packing and storage

Do not keep down compressed longer than you need to: at home, hang your sleeping bag loose or store it in a large cotton sack, because down that is squeezed for months loses its loft and with it its warmth. Tighten the straps evenly, a bit at a time in turn, rather than pulling one all the way — that keeps the sack straight and avoids loading the seams unevenly.
